SOUTH AFRICA - CORAL REEF DIVING

iSimangaliso Wetland Park

Maputaland Marine Reserve & Unesco World Heritage Site

The iSimangaliso Wetland Park situated in northern Kwa Zulu Natal was declared South Africa's first UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 1999. The area extends from from Cape St Lucia in the south to Kosi Bay in the north. Scuba dive, enjoy a boat ride in search of hippo's at St Lucia, experience a wildlife safari in the adjoining Hluhluwe Umfolozi game reserve - there is something for everyone.

Diving within the iSimangaliso Park takes place in two different areas. Whether you prefer the hustle and bustle of the small town of Sodwana with a variety of diving and accommodation options or the more secluded Maputaland area where Thonga Beach Lodge is accessed with 4x4 vehicles only, you will enjoy getting back to nature along this wonderful stretch of coastline. Diving in this area boasts the most pristine coral reef diving in South Africa, on some of the world's southern most coral reefs. Rated as one of the top ten dive destinations in the world. With vibrant coral reefs and over 1200 species of fish - this is a divers paradise.
